History, Belgium28.03.2025 - 11.01.2026 The exhibition Presence of the Past is the first photographic exhibition produced by the House of European History. It reveals how Europeans engage with the past in their everyday lives and challenges how we relate to history, not as a fixed narrative, but as a living, shifting space. The studio embraced this topic to design a scenography with the past by introducing ancient stones, reclaimed from Architecturaal Antiek Delaere, a timeless warehouse in Belgium. Columns, fireplaces, broken marble, each piece carrying the weight of its own story and become items to exhibit the 110 photographs carefully curated by Simina Bădică and Stéphanie Gonçalves. After the exhibition, the stones will go back to the warehouse, ready to serve new stories. This circular scenography unveils a European history that is in continuous transformation, forming and reforming itself throughout the centuries. construction.For this exhibition, the studio imagined a scenography as discreet as possible to let the voluminous pieces enter into dialogue.Light in production and weight, the exhibition design plays with gravity and refers to one of the oldest construction tools: the plumb bob.Made of simple suspended and tensioned threads, the scenography structures the space without creating partitions, limiting the amount of material introduced. The plumb bobs become multifunctional elements of the exhibition design: they support the display labels, create distance devices, separate the artworks and structure the visitor's path. Simple, dismantlable and space-efficient, they can easily be stored in the museum's reserves and reused, both as scenographic elements and as tools. A few months later, the exhibition was presented, revisited and expanded, at Gewerbemuseum Winterthur in Switzerland under the title Backstein Reloaded. The scenography travelled with the exhibition: the original plumb bobs, packed into a small suitcase and transported by train from Belgium, were reused in the new presentation. Combined with elements already available in the museum's storage, they formed a new scenography adapted to the venue, without producing new display elements. /> Unstable Point — Jaou PhotoAvenue Habib Bourguiba, Tunisia09.10.2024 - 09.11.2024 “Unstable Point,” a key exhibition of Jaou Photo 2024, explores the tension between appreciations, attitudes and perceptions, and the role of past traces in shaping identities. Curator Taous Dahmani selected twelve artists from the African continent and South-West Asia, celebrating diverse experiences, values, traditions and cultural, social, ethnic and religious heterogeneity. The exhibition design moves from a macro site analysis to a micro approach for each artist, inspired by the vernacular architecture of the Tunis Medina. This geometry is reinterpreted through a 150-meter scaffolding structure forming ten pavilions that frame large perspectives and intimate views, while daylight shifts highlight different parts of the installation. Set in a vibrant urban area, the exhibition coexists with local flows, offering unexpected encounters with photography. The project results from international teamwork between London, Tunis and Brussels, developed through continuous communication, shared drawings and a travelling model that unified all inputs. We conceived the scenography as a full protagonist of the performance, in constant dialogue with the actions on stage.Our research focused on the movement of fabric through tension and release.Every element on stage is transformed; everything is used.The ball becomes padding, which then becomes a prop, and so on. We worked extensively with lighting, layered textiles, curtain-raising effects, and materials, allowing us to bring an almost magical quality to the performance. For this iteration in this stunning site in France, the exhibition was adapted to smaller spaces and was design with existing material on site.The wooden beams from the previous exhibition were carefully dismantled and transformed into protective structures holding the text, extending the idea of reuse into new functionality. The texts, printed on wallpaper and objects displayed into showcases taken from the museum storage, reaffirm the studio’s commitment to work with what already exists. By reusing, transforming, and recontextualizing materials, Au Charbon! exhibition welcome the post-carbon era and explores how an exhibition can be both narrative and sustainable. We reused the landscape of the previous Jaime Hayon’s exhibition that was initially designed to display furniture. On top of this base we used light as a main element to refocus the eyes towards the precious smaller scale artworks.In collaboration with long term partner Chris Pype we experimented with reflection, refraction, and diffraction to highlight the selected jewellery. Working with limited resources is part of our creative process. Combining existing and rented elements allows us to further explore our ongoing research in eco-conception. Lighting the pieces so precisely enhances them and creates a different dimension. The shadows scale up details of the artwork to create a second reading. The mirrors diffract and redirect a new beam of light. They also serve as a tool to reveal details on the backs of the jewels. de collection, oeuvre d’art.Le Delta, Belgium30.03.2024 - 18.08.2024 With its eye-catching visuals and standardized format, the postcard is the Instagram’ avant-garde. For this exhibition, presented in 2024 at the Delta in Namur, the studio focused on a spatial organization that evokes this multiplicity of images. Space and circulation play with openings, perspectives and points of view, leading the public to sit and admire images in constant relation to one another. Colorful works by Picabia, Marcel Duchamp and Oriol Vilanova are displayed in a black-and-white environment evoking the neutral back of a postcard. To present the 1,500 postcards in this exhibition, the studio designed the entire scenography based on the size of the existing material of the cultural center. The metal structures and wooden frames became walls and showcases to protect the artworks. All building systems were designed to be produced by Delta's technical team, creating a local production site and avoiding transport.
