Light is often approached as a technical tool, something to be measured, controlled, and adapted to conservation requirements and the fragility of museum collections. But what happens when light becomes more than a simple means of illumination? When it begins to shape the space itself?
Since 2024, we have conducted in-depth research into light, reflections, shadows, movements, and its capacity to transform our perception. An immaterial material, capable of crafting atmospheres, guiding the eye, revealing textures, or sometimes even standing in for physical structures.
Light can become a silent form of scenography: subtle, ephemeral, almost invisible. These experimentations took place both in our studio and in Chris Pype's studio at Licht, with whom we collaborate regularly. Together, we explored light not merely as a technical necessity, but as a language in its own right.
