Chwallow is a contemporary circus piece in which the performers move through, and are moved by, matter, color, and volume.
We conceived the scenography as a full protagonist of the performance, in constant dialogue with the actions on stage.
Our research focused on the movement of fabric through tension and release.
Every element on stage is transformed; everything is used.
The ball becomes padding, which then becomes a prop, and so on.
We worked extensively with lighting, layered textiles, curtain-raising effects, and materials, allowing us to bring an almost magical quality to the performance.
